Planning a wedding can be stressful, and I know for me that can translate into breakouts. So in the months leading up to our big day there were no cold feet about the man I was marrying. He is great! I just had “cold face”. My biggest stress about the day was whether or not my acne-prone skin would cooperate! To help me with this, I met with my esthetician a little extra and it made all the difference.
My normal skin care routine includes SkinMedica Facial Cleanser in the mornings and Illuminating Cleanser from Colorescience in the evenings. I love the Illuminating Cleanser at night, because it removes my makeup so well and absorbs oil. It contains salicylic acid so it’s perfect for my acne-prone skin. I also use SkinMedica’s Acne Treatment Lotion, Retinol .25, Ultra Sheer Moisturizer, TNS Essential Serum and Latisse. I can’t say enough how much these products have transformed my skin and lengthened my eyelashes. I have pictures to prove it!
The estheticians use VISIA Complexion Analysis at their appointments. VISIA scans your skin and captures key visual information – using multi-spectral imaging and analysis – of eight areas that affect your skin’s health and appearance. They use the VISIA to measure your skin pigmentation, pore size, porphyrins (evidence of bacteria), UV spots, photodamage (typically from sun damage), texture and wrinkles. At an appointment a while back we compared my photos from 2008 to my most recent VISIA, and although I have aged six years, my skin is healthier, tighter and younger looking.
Aside from the awesome products, my esthetician had me start a peel regimen. I started with a microderm to “sand away” any dead skin. Then I did a series of Vitalize peels (one every six weeks) up until a few months before the big day. The peels really help tighten pores, improve skin texture, and smooth out ruddy complexions. The month before the wedding we stopped messing with my face and I just continued my skin care routine at home. My esthetician suggested not doing an event peel because of the sensitivity of my skin. Two weeks before I got all my waxing done and my eyebrows shaped and tinted. The day before, I came in for a manicure, pedicure and spray tan.
On the big day my skin was even and blemish free. Quite the feat since I had been super stressed the previous two weeks. I got my makeup done the day of by a makeup artist from the Laser & Vein Center. She used all Colorescience makeup and did an amazing job giving me the natural bridal makeup I desired.
I am so grateful I worked closely with my esthetician leading up to our wedding. It was like having a personal trainer for my face. She helped with my “cold face” and it was one less thing I had to stress about. I definitely suggest any bride-to-be come in for a complimentary skin care consultation and build a personal plan with one of our amazing estheticians.
