This summer was a cause for celebration in our family. Our oldest daughter, Rachel, took that big step and married our wonderful new son-in-law, Noah. As anyone who has planned a wedding knows, there is a lot that goes into trying to create the perfect day. One thing I have noticed in this industry is that a lot of mothers of the bride will come to visit us to prepare for this special day. I would like to challenge you all to not wait for that day.

As my daughter’s wedding approached, I had to plan my nail appointments and brow wax, and really that was it. I know you might be saying yeah, but you work at a place that does these things. Well yes, that is true, but it is still hard to find time and sometimes hard to get myself on our busy schedule. I do, however, make sure that I keep up my routine services and stay on a good home care routine. So no need to panic if a special event comes up. I am sure all of us could do more and try harder, but I have a routine that is good enough for me.

So why wait for a big event to start taking care of yourself? When those special days come you can spend your energy on all of the other things that will stress you out like seating charts and what dress to wear. Which is exactly what I did. The week before the wedding I was quite sure that I would convince all my other children to elope, but the magical day came and, in spite of the stress and the few things that didn’t go as planned, it was absolutely perfect. When you’re surrounded by the love of friends and family it is hard to feel anything but beautiful.

So to all you women of mother-of-the-bride age, find out what your “good enough” is and when those special moments come along, sit back and enjoy!
