Summer Wedding Season is here…I am counting down the days…22 to be exact and my beautiful daughter Brittany will be married. By the time this newsletter goes out, it will be days till the Big Event.
Whether you are the bride-to-be, bridesmaid, mother of the bride, or attending someone’s special day, the way you look can affect the way you feel. I want to enjoy these magical moments and not think about my makeup.
Preparations for the wedding aren’t the only things that need to be done in advance. Makeup and skin prep should start about a week prior. For me, this has been for the past 20 years! Peels, microderms, Botox, filler, etc. To assure that my skin is glowing, I will make sure to have my Illuminize peel early that week, giving me a beautifully clean palette for my event makeup. I have also been playing around with different looks and applying more makeup accessories than I would wear on a typical day. Using Colorescience eye restoration kit to lighten, brighten and prime my eyes, I create a canvas for foiling my shadow. For a gorgeous foiling effect, spritz your shadow brush and apply the minerals. This gives the shadow a glamorous sheen. Liner and lashes finish a dramatic eye…my Latisse has done wonders for my lashes, but what better excuse to wear fake lashes than your daughter’s wedding! Fun! The illuminating compact in champagne and bronze kiss will soften my temples and highlight cheekbones, leaving me with a sun-kissed look. The final step will be a lip pencil to add a base for a fabulous lip polish and gloss. My goal will be to keep it classic and Colorescience is the perfect makeup: I will have full coverage, perfectly blended, soft, not harsh….all this and my skin will still be able to breathe. It feels and looks non-existent. And did I mention it is water-resistant? Some tears will be shed, I am sure. A shout out to my lovely client, Ann, for the delicate handkerchief she gifted me…it will come in handy.
The day of any big event can be stressful, but with a little practice your makeup can be the easy part. Playing and perfecting my look will definitely make me feel comfortable, confident and beautiful on our special day.
So for your next event, always remember: makeup should be fun, whether you’re getting it done by a professional or going at it alone. Getting dressed up and looking pretty is one of the best things about being a lady. Enjoy it! Have fun with it! Don’t be afraid to mess up, either. If you don’t like it, you can just wash it off and start over.
