Seasons change and so does your skin. It’s that time again to start thinking about changing your wardrobe, skin care and makeup. I went camping this last weekend and saw so many changes happening in the outdoors. Days are getting shorter and nights are getting cooler. Kayla has been experiencing changes herself at school and with her skin.
Kayla has been experiencing breakouts due to stress from school and the change in weather. Transitioning from summer to winter can make our skin irritated and dry. The top layer of our skin locks in moisture to prevent irritants and germs from entering cracks in the skin. “Cold, dry air can damage the top skin layer, allowing water in the skin to escape and causing small cracks that expose underlying cells to irritants and germs,” according to the American Academy of Dermatology. Kayla received another Vitalize peel this month to rejuvenate her skin and give her a clearer complexion. Peels are a great way to clean up pigment and dull skin from the summer. For best results a series of three to five are advised. I also added her SkinMedica Ultra Sheer moisturizer back into her product regimen in addition to her SkinMedica AHA/BHA cream. Winter is around the corner and with dryer weather even oily skin needs moisture. Clients with oily skin tend to dry out their skin too much and then their skin produces more oil. Moisturizers provide a barrier keeping in hydration and keeping out harmful bacteria that can lead to breakouts and infections.
