The P-shot utilizes platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to help fight ED. The P-shot can also enhance sexual performance and, in some men, increase the size of the penis. PRP uses your body’s own ability to repair and heal by concentrating growth factors into the penis. The P-shot is performed in the office under local anesthesia, and is relatively painless.
Men who have had loss of sexual function from prostate cancer, surgery and diabetes may benefit from the P-shot. However, they may need other therapies along with the P-shot if they have sustained nerve damage from their prior therapies. Men who are unhappy with the firmness or duration of their erection will benefit from the P-shot. Also, if you are concerned with the size of your penis, the P-shot may be able to increase the girth and length of your penis. You are a good candidate for the P-shot if you have to take ED medications, want increased size, don’t want to continue taking ED medications, or have been diagnosed with Peyronie’s disease.
The P-shot uses your body’s own healing power to repair and enhance the penis. The type of PRP we use at Genesis Medspa has growth factors as well as some stem cells from your blood, so we feel it gives you the best chance for a great outcome. The PRP is injected into the penis, and then stimulates repair and regeneration of your penile tissues.
You should be well hydrated before coming for your appointment. Do not drink any alcohol on the day of your treatment. If you are on blood thinners (Coumadin, Plavix, Pradaxa, Eliquis) we will need to discuss with you when to stop them. It is also recommended that you trim or shave the pubic hair from the base of the penis. This will allow easier application of the pump after the injection, as well as reduce the discomfort from hair getting pulled.
After you arrive, the doctor will discuss your treatment and answer any questions you have. The nurse will then draw your blood to prepare the PRP. An anesthetic cream will be applied to your penis. The cream should cover the entire length and head of your penis. The PRP and numbing cream take about 15-20 minutes to be effective. When the PRP is ready, the doctor and nurse will return for your injection. Once completed, the penis pump will be applied and left on for 10 minutes. You should apply the pump twice daily for the next month for the best results. There should be little to no discomfort after your injections.
After your treatment, no special care is needed. You should apply the penile pump for 10 minutes twice daily for a month. There are no activity restrictions. You may have sexual intercourse the next day. There can, very rarely, be some bruising and soreness. If you have any concerns, do not hesitate to call us.
The results from the P-shot can be seen immediately! Some men are late responders and may not see any changes for 1-2 months, and others may require more than one injection session. Also, if you have had nerve damage, the P-shot alone may not be enough to reverse your ED.
The results of the P-shot may last up to one year. As with any interventions that are trying to slow aging, the best results are with ongoing use. Many men choose to have a series of three injections in the beginning and then a single injection every six months.
The P-shot is considered a cosmetic or experimental procedure, and therefore will not be covered by most insurance companies. We do offer financing options to cover your costs. Just ask our staff and they will be glad to assist you!
We will be happy to c on the P-shot at the Genesis Medspa at your convenience. We are excited to tell you how the P-shot can help enhance your life!
