Hey everyone, it’s Sarah! I am excited to be sharing my own personal experience with fillers. Growing up I always had a recessed chin and it has made me self-conscious. I had a consult with an oral surgeon to see about extending my jaw, but the cost and the downtime for the surgery just didn’t seem right for me. I started looking for other options and came across filler.
Let me tell you guys, filler really is incredible. There is no downtime and it is more affordable than surgery. Yes! I just needed the right doctor I could trust. Fast forward to this year and I began working alongside Dr. Prasad and assisting him with his Botox and filler patients. I get to see him do incredible work on everyone that comes into this office. I immediately knew I needed him to do my filler.
I scheduled my appointment for two weeks before Christmas. This worked out perfectly! My treatment was painless. I had no topical numbing and was completely fine. The filler itself has numbing medication in it, which helps. Dr. Prasad decided I would need two syringes of Radiesse and I love how it turned out. It looks so natural. It gave me the chin that I have always wanted.
If you are thinking about filler or are on the fence, then you NEED to come in for a consult with Dr. Prasad. Filler isn’t just for the lips or for celebrities. We do some pretty incredible treatments with it in our office: scar revision, hand rejuvenation, mini facelifts, and so much more!
I decided to answer five of the most frequently asked questions about fillers below. Also, check out my before and after photos; pretty amazing, right?
1. What are Dermal Fillers
nAs we age, we lose collagen and elasticity in the skin, which causes deep folds and sagging. Dermal fillers are biocompatible, injectable gels that create lift and add volume to key areas of the face that show signs of aging. The results are instant, with the procedure taking 30 minutes or less. During the procedure you will be made comfortable with the use of lidocaine. Many clients enjoy a youthful look by filling in the folds around the mouth, restoring cheek height, and refreshing lips and other areas. At your consultation, your practitioner will go over your options and help you achieve the results you are looking for.
2. How long do fillers last?
nBecause each face is so different, outcomes will vary. Most fillers advertise they last up to one year; however, this depends on the initial amount of filler used, age of the client, desired results, and the depth of the folds and wrinkles. In general, based on our experience, fillers can last between 9 and 12 months.
3. But I don’t want to look fake. Don’t those celebrities look awful with huge lips?
nA small fraction of celebrities use a poor combination of bad plastic surgery, Botox and fillers to create an unnatural look. The thousands of celebrities that receive fillers from experienced practitioners merely look young and fabulous! Done properly, no one needs to know. Many clients decide to keep their choice of treatment very private; that’s why we specialize in a natural look.
4. Do people bruise after dermal filler treatments?
nAny time a needle is injected into the skin, there will be a chance of bruising. To decrease your chances of bruising, it is good to avoid blood thinning agents such as ibuprofen and aspirin for one to two weeks prior to your appointment. Always consult with your doctor before changing your medications if you are under a doctor’s care. At your consultation, benefits and risks will be discussed in detail.
5. Can I work out or continue my normal routine after treatment?
nYou will be able to continue your normal routine; there is no “downtime” for injectable treatments. We recommend, however, not to do highly vigorous exercise for 6 hours after treatment, as well as to avoid direct sun exposure. It is best to keep the head upright for 4 hours to allow the product to settle into the designated areas. You can apply makeup after treatment as you normally would.
