“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” – Lao Tzu
Hello everybody!! I am so excited about my massage blog adventure! My name is Jayme Meyer and I have been a licensed massage therapist for five years. I went to the Arizona School of Massage Therapy, and from day one of classes I knew I had found my passion. I love the fact that I am able to go in to my job every day with the tools and knowledge that can greatly impact someone’s overall health and wellness.
Post graduation I found myself on another adventure that led me to discover a second passion: fitness. I embarked on my lifestyle change a few months after I graduated from massage school, and have since changed my life completely. Being a massage therapist and gym junkie, I am able to combine the skills I have picked up and apply them to every aspect of my life and my clients’ lives.
When most people think of massage, they oftentimes associate it with being an EXTRA thing, or a bonus after everything else is taken care of, and not something that can greatly impact day-to-day life. In the fitness world, athletes push their bodies to the extreme in order to meet certain goals and expectations. What these athletes are starting to realize is how truly beneficial massage can be in terms of performance, goals, etc. Massage is starting to be looked at as one of the NECESSARY items that one needs to be their best self.
Over the next several months, I am going to break down the benefits of massage in the fitness world, stretching and focus work after a specific workout, massage and DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness), the emotional/spiritual connection that comes from fitness and massage combined, and I am going to shine light on how truly incredible massage therapy is.
