Is it really the beginning of August already? They say that time flies the older you get, and I certainly believe that it’s true. In the next few weeks our twins will become juniors in high school and Rachel, the oldest, will be an incoming freshman at Missouri State University in Springfield. We will have lots of back-to-school shopping and preparing for a year of living in the dorm. What a crazy couple of weeks it is going to be…
New makeup and skin care for my girls is definitely on our back-to-school shopping list. They tend to keep it pretty simple with their makeup: Skin Mattifying primer with salicylic acid, pressed mineral foundation, Clarifying Setting mist, and usually just a little bit of mascara. Colorescience is wonderful at concealing acne while still looking natural, letting their pretty teenage skin show through.
A terrible timeless teenage makeup trend has always been the dark black eyeliner. It seems like a rite of passage, beginning around the age of 13 or 14, heavily lining upper and lower lids. I can remember a day when I, too, was guilty of this look. I am definitely a fan of black eyeliner, but when heavily lining around both upper and lower lid, it tends to make your eyes look very small and closed. Teen makeup is better when it looks fresh and youthful. Enjoy this time in life – you will soon be grown and trying to regain your youth. Starting with a simple cleansing routine and mineral makeup with sun protection is a great start for teen girls or even preteen. We offer a tutorial to educate newbies on how to apply makeup and to review skin care basics. Remember to keep it simple and accentuate the positive. Enjoy your back-to-school shopping and look forward to a happy, healthy, great school year!
